The Mayan Civilization and its Legacy to all Humankind

The Yucatan Peninsula is compounded by three different states which have been home to a millenary civilization; The Mayans. Remaining architecture can still be found as evidence of its great splendor. Campeche located on the west facing the Gulf of Mexico and most known sites are; Balamku, Becan, Calakmul. Chunhuhub, Chicanna, Dzibilnocac,, Edzna, El tigre, Hochob, Hormiguero, Kanki, Santa Rosa, Xtampak, Tabasqueño, Tohcok, Xcalumkin and Xpuhil. Yucatan State located to the North of the Peninsula and the most know sites are; Acanceh, Ake, Balamcanche, Chacmultun, Chichen Itza, Dzibilchaltun, Ek Balam, Izamal, Kabah, Labna, Loltun Mayapan, Oxkintok, Sayil, Uxmal, Xlapak and Xcambo. Quinta Roo State is located to the East in The Mexican Caribbean and the newest in The Peninsula. The most known sites are; Calica, Chakanbakan, Coba, Caracol -Punta Sur, Chacchoben, Dzibanche, Kinichna, El Meco, El Rey, Kohunlich, Muyil, Oxtankah, Playa del Carmen, San Gervasio, San Miguelito, Tulum, Xcaret and Xelha.
